Session : Elbow

Elbows are on the menu today. I spent the day doing exercises to
improve the elbow angle and movements to aid in the the release of the
dart in a straight line.

The elbow angle can effect the sideways movement of the dart. It needs
to be in a stable position. The elbow also needs to be high enough so that
the Humerus is parallel with the floor. So when throwing the dart the elbow
stationary and the work is done through the elbow not the shoulder.

Late in the throw the elbow raises as the dart is released. It is important to
limit movement as the dart is released.
The following diagram should help explain this.

To practise this I will use the block practice technique. It will help by gaining
muscle memory.

After the session today I learnt that the elbow is a key element in the throwing
of the dart and that the final release of the dart needs to be slow clean. This
stops the dart from going sideways.
